The "country, bluegrass and blues" club that gave birth to American punk, CBGB's, will close later this month. That's right, the national treasure that introduced us to Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, Television, Richard Hell, and so many other great punk and new wave bands, will soon be history. (The legendary Patti Smith will play the final CBGB's show on Oct. 15.) So here is my little homage to this great place, a podcast of some of the bands that got their start there, or played there in the early days. Thanks, CBGB's, for the memories. Playlist: 1. The Heartbreakers - Born to Lose 2. Richard Hell & the Voidoids - Blank Generation 3. Talking Heads - The Book I Read 4. Modern Lovers - Roadrunner 5. Blondie - I'm On E 6.
